The EMPOWER Workplace Charging Project
The EMPOWER Workplace Charging Project is a national initiative designed to accelerate the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging at workplaces across the United States.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and implemented through a network of Clean Cities Coalitions and partner organizations.
In Central Oklahoma, the Central Oklahoma Clean Cities Coalition helped workplaces and local governments demonstrate their support for EV charging and expand access to charging stations throughout the region.
What is Workplace Charging?
Workplace charging occurs when employers install electric vehicle charging stations at their facilities so employees, visitors, and customers can charge their vehicles during the workday.
Providing EV charging at the workplace offers several benefits:
• Supports employee commuting with electric vehicles
• Helps organizations attract and retain talent
• Demonstrates leadership in transportation innovation
• Encourages broader EV adoption in the community
For many employees, charging at work can be the most convenient way to keep their vehicle powered during the day.
